Course/Workshop Description

What you will learn. Create your chosen personal projects, developing sewing and design skills This is a non accredited course and covers various aspects of soft furnishing. It is suitable for all levels of ability from somebody that has not used a sewing machine for a long time up to the most competent sewer. You will work at your own pace on the project of your choice. You may wish to learn how to make cushions, curtains, blinds or tie backs in a variety of styles; all of these skills can be covered in the class. You will complete all techniques required for your project and also have an opportunity to watch and gain further inspiration as fellow students work on their own creations. As you progress you will learn about the tools and equipment required. The class is predominately practical and Kim your tutor gives verbal instruction backed up with hands on help if needed. Some people find making there own notes by notepad and camera very useful. Assessment is by observation and discussion About the Class This is a mixed ability class and will suit all levels. What do I need to bring to the course? We start with a bucket full of enthusiasm! Kim your tutor will advise you on the tools that will prove most useful over the first couple of weeks. However for the first lesson it would be useful to bring the measurements of the window(if you have a widow covering in mind, along with some photos.) your fabric if you have it, a pair of sharp scissors, pins,( although these items are not critical), we do have some in house sewing machines but this might delay you a little. Although there will be some tools that are available for you to use, getting the essentials will ensure that you are not having to wait. Courses are run continually, and you will be able to join these tocontinue honing your new skill set.
